The Disco Biscuits Deliver Rarities At Red Rocks Bisco Inferno Finale

The Disco Biscuits concluded their three-day Bisco Inferno Colorado run at Red Rocks on Sunday. The livetronica quartet would fit in a number of rarities over the course of three sets.

The Disco Biscuits — guitarist Jon Gutwillig, bassist Marc Brownstein, keyboardist Aron Magner and drummer Allen Aucoin — began their Bisco Inferno finale with an afternoon streaming only set which kicked off with a bust out of the rarity “Meditation.” tDB last played the song on September 23, 2009 for a gap of 421 shows, as per Phantasy Tour. The Red Rocks 2021 “Meditation” marked just the 17th time the band has played the song since 2008 with the majority of the performances coming in 2009. The streaming set also included “The Overture” from Gutwillig’s rock opera Hot Air Baloon which featured a fitting tease of The Beatles’ “Rain” on a wet and cloudy day in Colorado.

The band kept up the rain theme in the second set to begin the Red Rocks show proper. After set opener “Spy,” Bisco dusted off their rendition of the Guns N’ Roses rock ballad “November Rain” for just the 11th time overall since debuting just the ending of the song during their 2014 NYE run in New York, also out of “Spy.” According to PT, tDB performed just the ending at New York’s Hammerstein Ballroom in 2014 and the RR “November Rain” was done in the same fashion. The GNR play also contained a tease of the Genesis classic, “That’s All.”

The final rarity of the evening saw The Disco Biscuits delivering the traditional and Grateful Dead staple “I Know You Rider” to close out the third set. tDB performed the song for the first time since March 3, 2016 for a gap of 166 shows, as per Phantasy Tour. The quartet wrapped up their 2021 Bisco Inferno Red Rocks run with “Home Again.”
