Lettuce Welcomes Guests For Jerry Garcia Band Tribute & More At Red Rocks
Lettuce threw their fourth annual Rage Rocks concert at Red Rocks Amphitheatre on Saturday night in Morrison, Colorado. The show began with a Jerry Garcia Band tribute set before Lettuce focused on originals to close out the night.
The JGB set got underway with the instrumental “Finders Keepers.” From there, Lettuce was joined by longtime Jerry Garcia Band keyboardist Melvin Seals and backing vocalists Laneesha Randolph and Raquel Rodriguez for a performance that saw members of Lettuce trade frontman duties. Nigel Hall was in the spotlight for “They Love Each Other,” Erick “Jesus” Coomes led “Cats Under The Stars” while Eric ‘Benny’ Bloom had his star turn on “Tangled Up In Blue.”
When Lettuce emerged for the second set they were joined by the Skyline Drumline for an unforgettable “Trapezoid.” The drummers, who often perform at Denver Nuggets games, were brought in for the collaboration by Adam Deitch. “Trapezoid” was one of six songs from the just-released Elevate LP to make the setlist at Red Rocks. “Krewe,” “Royal Highness,” “Ready To Live” and “Purple Cabbage” were the others performed in the frame as was Lettuce’s cover of “Everybody Wants To Rule The World” by Tears For Fears. Hall was backed by Laneesha and Racquel for the ’80s classic. The set came to a close with old school fan-favorites “Phyllis” and “Squadlive.” For the encore, Lettuce went with “The Force” from 2015’s Crush.
