R3HAB & Jocelyn Alice Release Radio Silence EP and Remixes
Including Remixes from King Arthur, Rainer & Grimm And More
Dutch producer R3HAB (born Fadil El Ghoul), shows his cool side about the newly published Radio Silence EP – which includes just one of the same title from his latest sophomore record The Wave. “Radio Silence” showcases Canadian pop singer Jocelyn Alice, whose magnificent vocals combine with organic instrumentals to weave a more tale of isolation and escapism. El Ghoul is now back using a six-track remix record featuring Ryan Riback, King Arthur, Rainer + Grimm, D-Wayne, along with Matthew Hill.
The first track highlights a psychological guitar development looped with poppy, angsty vocals. The build is largely vocal, with atmospheric sounds along with a piano accompaniment. The shed has a home groove using the four-on-the-floor kick. Riback remains true the original while incorporating a trop-house twist. King Arthur ramps it up a bit using a quicker tempo; minute in and we are transported into an eclectic house track that gives the original a whole lot more advantage.
Rainer + Grimm set themselves apart from the get-go. They have a contrasting take in the tropical house which Riback delivered. It is much more funky and dark in the best way possible. D-Wayne starts out using a pulsing house groove along with fat drums. Alice’s vocals are adorned with reverb-heavy echoes along with a bass-heavy drop which makes this a real standout. Lastly, that the Matthew Hill remix follows the conventional deep house formula to great effect. Its dance quality pairs perfectly using Alice’s enchanting vocals.
Canada’s Jocelyn Alice is a soulful vocalist and songwriter with a bent toward digital, R&B-tinged pop. Initially, the Calgary native came to the public’s attention in the age 16 when she finished as runner-up about the televised Canadian vocal competition Popstars. After the tv show wrapped, Alice started working with manufacturers at Los Angeles, finally settling into her position as a session vocalist. She recently had been featured on a track together by BRKLYN and Fairlane on”Things I’ve Learned.”
Over the previous seven years, the Dutch/Moroccan R3HAB was building a strong grassroots following. He is circuited the globe’s best clubs all without the backing of an official record label. In 2017, El Ghoul independently released his debut album Trouble through his imprint CYB3RPVNK, which amassed over 300 million streams globally and officially established himself one of digital music’s heavy hitters. He made number 12 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 listing in 2018, topping the charts with tracks such as”Lullaby” and”Hold On Tight.” On his sophomore record, The Wave, El Ghoul revealed a more complex, psychological and experimental coating of himselftelling the world that there’s still much more to come.
R3HAB will kick off his”The Wave” North American tour on February 2nd, hitting iconic venues such as Echostage at Washington DC, Mezzanine in San Francisco along with The Belasco Theater in Los Angeles, to name a few. See the full list of dates and grab your tickets here.
