God Street Wine Celebrates 30th Anniversary In New York City: Full Show Audio

Seminal jam quintet God Street Wine attracted a party of the 30th anniversary for its completion having a marathon concert in The Gramercy Theater in New York City on Saturday night. The band pulled from several eras of the career during the three-set show in front of Winos from across the country.

Guitarists Lo Faber and Aaron Maxwell, keyboardist Jon Bevo, drummer Tom “Tomo” Osander along with bassist Dan Pifer opened with the oldie “Whatcha Gonna Do About It,” they segued into a well-jammed “Goodnight Gretchen. ” The quintet then pulled “Which Way Will She Go? ” away 1996’s Red and “Wall” from their self-titled 1997 LP. GSW ended the first of the 3 places with a batch of classics including “Into The Sea,” “Epiphany” along with “Driving West. ” Maxwell led the group on an infrequent cover of Frank Zappa’s “Trouble Every Day” between “Into The Sea” along with “Epiphany. ”

Saturday’s second group started with the gorgeous “Souvenir. ” Next arrived “Change Your Mind” before a pairing of “Nothing Left To Lose” along with “Water. ” An emotional high point came with a leading “Waiting For The Tide. ” From there, Faber jokingly introduced “Stupid Hat” among the group ’s radio strikes. Exotic favorites “Borderline,” “Ballroom” along with “Imogene” closed out the frame.

There was over 100 minutes of music to proceed when GSW returned to the third group. GSW jammed “Fortress Of Solitude” into “The Other Shore” and then dusted off “This Fine Town. ” The seamless start to the closing stanza continued with “Upside Down & Inside Out” along with also a “Bring Back The News” that gave way into the conventional “Will The Circle Be Unbroken. ” The five-piece then labored “Electrocute” into the beloved “Nightingale” prior to finishing the third group with a psychological “Home Again” and rousing “Get On The Train. ”

God Street Wine said farewell with a three-song encore. Initially was the tender “5 Tunnels. ” The quintet then ripped through a cover of The Beatles’ “Come Together” prior to ending the night with a protracted “Hellfire. ” Listen to a audience recording taped by Scott Bernstein (no connection ):
