Tony Iommi to hit studio to work on new solo album

As Ozzy Osbourne has allowed the endings of his final tour together using Black Sabbath haul him into a run of fresh solo dates, his ex-bandmate Tony Iommi isn’t slowing down anytime soon.

According to a chat he participated in after a screening of The End of the End, the documentary which captures Sabbath’s gig in his hometown of Birmingham, the legendary guitarist is gearing up to record a solo album.

“I’m writing stuff,” Iommi said from the interview (watch below). “I’ve put down ideas on tapes. When all this nice weather moves and it becomes gloomy, I will begin setting it down and moving in the studio. ”

The details about exactly what the prospective album would seem like ultimately aren’t completely fleshed out but, in the meeting, Iommi created it seem like he had been putting the wheels in motion, including utilizing the support of Mike Exeter, that worked on Black Sabbath’s final album, 13.

“My engineer, that I had for everything with rdquo; he also explained, & me in the home, “he s done Judas Priest’s album. Now he s finished that, and now then we ’ll hopefully put down some ideas and start again. I don’t know exactly what it’s gonna be if it’ll be an instrumental album. I ve been approached by plenty of people to do something with them. ”

The Black Sabbath legend launched his first solo album, Iommi, in 2000, and it featured guest vocals from Dave Grohl, Serj Tankian, Ozzy Osbourne and more.

Along with hitting the studio Iommi is reportedly working on a remix of Forbidden, the Black Sabbath album from 1995 which was created by Body Count’therefore Ernie C and featured vocalist Tony Martin.

The legendary musician can also be set to create a set of public appearances this season, but without his axe in hand. Iommi is set to talk about his career at length together using Phil Alexander, former editor of Kerrang! , in Scotland on October 12th in Paisley’s Town Hall and on October 13th in Edinburgh’s Assembly Rooms.
