Meow Wolf’s Call For Colorado Artists Opens Friday

Meow Wolf’s Call For Colorado Artists Opens Friday

Since Meow Wolf declared its own plans to construct a permanent exhibition in Denver, several Colorado artists are wondering how they can be involved. Well, now’s the opportunity — beginning October 5, Meow Wolf will start its call for hints for its Denver exhibition, slated to start in 2020. According to the official media release, Meow Wolf needs Colorado-based artists to “show your eyesight in brand new, new media, fantastic storylines or immersive setup. ” Artists of any and all kinds and experience are invited to use, so don’t back out just because you are doing something vague — chances are, vague creativity is going to be welcomed as much as writing, sculpting or visual artwork will be.

Following the success of Meow Wolf’s Santa Fe exhibition, The House of Eternal Return, such as millions of visitors and dollars in earnings, artists of all types are drawn to the prospect of contributing to the immersive artwork display. Besides needing to have paid to get an artistic undertaking, artists are excited about working together and to get a group who knows artists since they’re artists themselves. When Meow Wolf began as a DIY artist collective 10 years back, they resorted to contributions and skip diving for substances to produce immersive installations. Now, those identical dumpster divers are still running the company — such as the CEO and co-founder Vince Kadlubek.

In order to offer interested applicants a framework before they apply, two free workshops will be held this weekend on October 7 and 6. The sessions will provide potential artists the chance to ask Meow Wolf’s innovative directors and co-founders some questions, but notably questions aimed at implementing and being engaged with a collaborative group of artists.

Last month, Meow Wolf hosted a corporate social responsibility meeting at STEAM about the Platte to split their strategy for encouraging the Denver community (and notably the area it’s moving into, Sun Valley) and ideally avoid the anxieties around gentrification. A lot of its function with Denver is advised by the Community Action Committee, a group composed of 15 Sun Valley artists, advocates and community members. Part of the program is to make certain at least 40 percent of the setup and work within the Denver Meow Wolf is created with Colorado-based artists — and having countless artists expected to donate, there are a healthy variety of spots to go for. Additionally, Meow Wolf would like to make sure artists are provided a living wage and benefits. Already, the company began working with and encouraging local artists, such as ones at the Maker Faire, Colorado Black Arts Festival, Temple Tantrum, College of Arts & Media and The Denver Zine Library.

“Meow Wolf origins are rooted as deeply as could be in creativity and community. We know that when you set those two powers together, anything is possible. Given the immense energy and talent of our neighbors, we’ve got the greatest expectations for Colorado proposals and couldn’t be much more excited to find out what comes from beginning this Friday,” stated Han Sayles, Meow Wolf Artist Liaison, who proceeded to Santa Fe from Colorado to work about the Denver presentation.

So, Colorado-based artists, make your creative juices flowing and prepare your very finest propositions. This is one of the chances that doesn’t come about every day.
